IL Early Intervention Program: (Birth to 3 years)
Most of our therapists are credentialed early intervention providers. The Illinois Early Intervention program (EI) mandates that all therapy services are to be provided in home.
Developmental Therapy Services
Developmental Therapy services cannot be billed to the medical insurance as they are considered educational in nature. Our developmental therapy services are billed to the IL EI program for children under the age of three. For families not enrolled in the EI program, we are happy to offer these services for a reasonable out of pocket cost.
Out-of-Pocket Payment Options
For out-of-network insurances, the patient family pays for therapy services upfront at the time of service. Our office will provide you with a statement that you may submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement. Our office does not verify benefits for non-network insurances.

United Health Care (UHC)
Patients often ask us: Why are we not part of UHC Network?
We were, for a very long time. UHC practices left us with no choice but to exit the network. Here are some of the specific reasons:
- Denying claims even when we have pre-authorizations
- Denying claims even when we have submitted the necessary paperwork
- Denying claims by repeatedly asking for same paperwork
- No representative to talk to in order to solve the above issues
Therefore, it is not that we don’t want to help patients; UHC makes reimbursements extremely difficult for us
What you can do as a UHC subscriber:
- Please send the above list to your employer’s HR and / or UHC patient representative
- Send your employer’s HR and / or UHC patient representative a note as to why you would benefit from services at Assential Therapies
- Ask UHC to assign a Provider Representative, who we can call and work with
